Funeral services for Dr. James Ira Balch, 45, surgeon at De Queen General Hospital and McCurtain Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church of De Queen.
Burial will be in Redmen Cemetery at De Queen under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Balch died Friday in Montgomery, Ala., after suffering an apparent heart attack while attending a military planning conference for the Arkansas National Guard.
He had lived in De Queen since 1968, dividing his time between hospitals in De Queen and Idabel.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Felts Balch, two sons, Craig and John, and one daughter, Lisa, all of De Queen; one brother, Terry Balch, Yupelo, Miss.; and one sister, Lou Ricketts, North Little Rock.
