But though they were low budget productions, RW Fassbinder achieved world reputation during his short lifetime. He used the film and the theatre as a platform to view his political point of view, and didn´t yield for subjects of controversy. With films like "The bitter tears of Petra von Kant (1971), Maria Braun´s marriage (1978), Lola (1981), Veonika Voss (1982) and Querelle (1982) he has made his mark in the history of film. For TV RWF made "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (1980), a 15-hour tv-series. His hard life caught up with him though, and he died from an overdose in Munich 1982. (bio by: Peter Robsahm)
