German Director and Playwright. Fassinder made his films by small means. But though they were low budget productions, RW Fassbinder achieved world reputation during his short lifetime. He used the film and the theatre as a platform to view his political point of view, and didnīt yield for subjects of controversy. With films like "The bitter tears of Petra von Kant (1971), Maria Braunīs marriage (1978), Lola (1981), Veonika Voss (1982) and Querelle (1982) he has made his mark in the history of film. For TV RWF made "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (1980), a 15-hour tv-series. His hard life caught up with him though, and he died from an overdose in Munich 1982. (bio by: Peter Robsahm)
