For ten seasons (1965 to 1973, 1976), he played at the offensive-guard position in the American and Canadian Football Leagues with the Boston Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals, Montreal Alouettes, Calgary Stampeders and Toronto Argonauts. Born Justin Dominic Canale, he attended Memphis Catholic High School (Tennessee) and played collegiate football at Mississippi State University, while attaining a Bachelor of Science degree. Selected by Boston during the 6th round of the 1965 AFL Draft, he appeared in 64 total games. Canale would move onto the CFL and experience a Grey Cup championship with Montreal in 1970 and distinguished himself, as he earned All-Star honors in 1971. He played for two years (1974 to 1975) with the Memphis Southmen of the World Football League, before returned to the CFL in 1976. (bio by: C.S.)
