Garrett Wichers, 61, a farmer living near Maurice, died at his home from a self-inflicted gun-shot wound Sunday. He had been suffering with illness.
Members of the family found the body on their return from church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 at the First Reformed church in Maurice, with burial in the Maurice cemetery.
Mr. Wichers was born Aug. 11, 1899 at Lebanon, Kans. He farmed in the Maurice vicinity for 37 years.
Survivors are the widow, Margaret; 7 sons: Marlin, Orange City; Russel, Sioux Center; Myron, Alton; Donald, Oyens; Allen with the U.S. forces in Korea; Leon and Robert at home; 5 daughters: Mrs. Carl Zublis, Sioux City; Mrs. Jake Siemonsma, Alton; Alma at home; Betty and Lois in Michigan; his father Marinus, Washington state; three brothers, 3 sisters, and 19 grandchildren.
