John Warner Obituary Published in the Shelbyville Newspaper May 3, 1929 Husband of Margaret Oller, son-in-law of William Henry and Eliza Jane Johnson Oller:

Prominent Henton Farmer Dies

John Warner, one of the most prominent, as well as one of the most highly esteemed men of Shelby County, passed away at his home at 9:30 Friday morning. Death was caused from heart disease, from which he had been a sufferer for some time. He went to do some chores around the barn that morning and was found in an unconscious condition about 9 o'clock, and remained in that state until death called him away.

John Warner was born in Ohio, June 24, 1844. He came to Illinois when a young man, and had resided for many years in the Henton neighborhood. He was united in marriage to Martha Oller, who survives him. Three children were born to this union. They are: Mrs. Pearl Voigt of Mattoon, and Ed and Theodore Warner of Henton. He also has one granddaughter, Mrs. Emmet Beem of Shelbyville.
Mr. Warner had been living with his daughter in Mattoon during most of the past winter, and had only recently returned to his home. He was a large landowner and cattle feeder, and was widely known.

The funeral was held at the Christian Church in Henton at 2:00 Sunday afternoon with burial in Henton Cemetery. The casket bearers were Grover Brown, C. N. Yost, Andy Dagen, Allie Dagen, George Lower, and Festus Waymire. A quartette composed of Mrs. Otto Christmas, Miss Maude Christman, Otto and Herman Christman sang. Fern Downs, Esther Hoke, Irene Hoke and Bertha Reiss had charge of the flowers. Rev. F. B. Ward officiated assisted by Rev. Ringle.

Note: Pearl Voigt was incorrectly spelled in the published obituary. John Warner died at the age of 84.
