Whig Politician from Kentucky. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1819 and served until his resignation in 1828 after being elected Governor. He served as Governor of Kentucky from 1828-1832. In 1848 he was appointed to the US Senate upon the resignaton of John J. Crittenden and served until 1849.
