Civil War Confederate Brigadier General, Mississippi Governor. During the Civil War he served as a General in the Confederate Army. Humphreys served as the Governor of Mississippi from 1865 to 1868. He was removed from the office as Governor by armed force under the orders of the United States military commander of Mississippi.
