Hon. Harlan Cleveland, Ex - U. S. District Attorney of Cincinnati, died rather suddenly, on Monday [December 24]. He was the son of the Hon. Francis L. Cleveland, of Augusta, Ky., and Mrs. Laura Harlan Cleveland, who was a sister of Justice John M. Harlan.

Mr. Cleveland was born in this city January 21, 1865. He was educated at Princeton College, and at Berlin, Germany. He studied law at Columbian [sic] University and under his distinguished uncle. He was appointed by President Cleveland (who was a relative) Assistant U. S. District Attorney for Ohio, and afterwards to the District Attorney's place. He served with distinction. He married the daughter of Justice Stanley Mathews of the U. S. Court. He had five children.

Mr. Cleveland suffered from acute Bright's disease.
