Graduated from Miami University 1831. Devoted more than 30 years to teaching. Established an Academy at College Hill, known as Cary's Academy, originated Farmer's College. Elder of the Presbyterian Church for over 40 years.
He was an enthusiast in Horticulture and Agriculture. Established and edited the "Cincinnatus" an agricultural periodical.
