PARMENTER, Charles Clarence, a farmer, aged 47y 11m 4d, went to the woods and shot himself in Morris Twp., Knox County, Ohio, on the 20th of October, 1925. He was born in Knox County, 16 Nov. 1877, the son of John Wesley & Marcella (Kempton) Parmentor. Buried in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown, Knox County, Ohio. TJD2012

~ MOUNT VERNON NEWS ~ Tuesday, 20 October, 1925 - FARMER KILLS HIMSELF - Charles Parmenter, residing on the Chesterville road, Knox County, killed himself with a shotgun at noon today. The shot went through his heart. Ill health is attributed to the suicide. It is said that Parmenter went to the woods this morning where he ended his life with a shotgun. Coroner C.L. Harmer ans Miller & O'Bryan's ambulance were called to the Parmenter home. An inquest was to be held this afternoon. It is said that Parmenter had been in ill-health for two years and the last two weeks was on the verge of a nervous collapse. Parmenter was 46 years of age, and is survived by his wife, and two brothers, B.F. and W.W. Parmenter. Parmenter told his wife he was going hunting. This was 11 a.m. At 11:30 Mrs. Parmenter heard a shot ring out in the woods opposite the house. Mrs. Parmenter and Herman Craig hastened to the scene. Parmenter was still alive and Dr. C.K. Conard was called but he died before the physician's arrival. The shot went through the left chest entering the heart. Parmenter suffered a nervous breakdown last Friday and a specialist was called.
