Born Dec. 29, 1927, in Wilson, Mich., she was the daughter of William Albert and Emmaline Brownell Mitts. On May 13, 1950, she married Orval Dean Dovenspike in Nashua. He died Aug. 3, 1992.
Mrs. Dovenspike was a homemaker and worked 10 years at Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant.
She moved to Mount Pleasant as a youth and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1947.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary.
She was an Iowa Hawkeye basketball fan and enjoyed reading, word finds, crossword puzzles, her dog and time with family.
Survivors include one son, Steve Dovenspike of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Deb Coleman of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Virginia Munyon of Mount Pleasant and Viola House of Verona, Wis.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Dovenspike will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church.
