James Cooper was a member of Co. G. 35th NY. He died October 24,1919, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 14 days old. According to his obituary he was born in West Troy, NY in 1836 when he removed to Wisconsin, where he engaged in farming,. He came to Escanaba in 1912 and for seven years made his home here. He had a son Henry Cooper of Ainsworth, Nebr, and a daughter Mrs. Myrtle Graham, of Escanaba.
From his death record it stated that his father James Cooper was from Ireland and mother Jane Kingcode was from NY. He is buried in Lakeview Cemetery. There are no other records for James A. Cooper. His pension papers are on file.
