Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Union Army. He was killed in action. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant in Company G, 20th Indiana Infantry for action on May 6, 1864 during the Wilderness Campaign, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of flag of 55th Virginia Infantry (C.S.A.)." (bio by: Don Morfe)
