Jacques Abadie Jr.
NEWPORT NEWS — Jacques Abadie Jr., 95, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Northern Virginia for the past 35 years, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Riverside Regional Convalescent Center.
Mr. Abadie was an architect and retired from the General Services Administration as a chief architectural engineer supervisor after 36 years of service.
He received his bachelor of science degree in architecture from Tulane University and his master's in architecture from Catholic University. He received second prize in the 1925 World "Design" Competition. He was Roman Catholic and a member of Friends of the Kennedy Center.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carlotta Pardee Abadie, he is survived by two sons, Jacques Abadie III and Pardee Abadie; and five grandchildren, Megan E. Abadie, Jacques W. Abadie, Kevin P. Abadie, Lisa A. Kercher and David J. Abadie.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Visitation will be followed by a funeral Mass conducted by the Rev. Timothy Keeney. Interment will take place in Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington.
Contributions may take the form of contributions to the Friends of the Kennedy Center.
