US Congressman. He served during the Revolutionary War as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Continental Army, and as an aide-de-camp to General George Washington. He was elected to represent Massachusetts' 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1793 to 1795. From 1809 to 1810 he served as Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts.
