Mrs. Mary Walker, wife of Samuel C. Walker, died last evening at 6:25 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Thoennes, 11 North Twenty-third street, after an illness of eight days with pneumonia. Mrs Walker was born in Cincinnati on June 25, 1851, and had lived in Lafayette for twenty years. She was a member of John A. Logan W.R. C. No. 191 and John A. Logan Circle No. 7, Ladies of the G. A. R. She leaves a husband and one daughter, Mrs. Thoennes; a mother, Mrs. Anna Younker, and the following brothers and sisters: Anthony, Henry, Charles, Margaret and Elizabeth Younker, of this city; Nicholas Younker, of Buck Creek and Joseph Younker, of West Point. Mrs. Walker was admired for her womanly qualities. She was a devoted wife and mother, a patient, gentle woman who found much pleasure in doing for others. No sacrifice was too great for her and she lived and died rich in the esteem of all who knew her.
