City Resident, 99 Years Old, Dies at Home
Mrs. Nannie J. Shaw, 99, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George Potter of 1111 21st Ave., at 10.35 a.m. yesterday after having been in failing health for some time.
She was born Nov. 1, 1858, in Morrisons Cove, a daughter of Henry and Mary (Thompson) Wike, and in March, 1876, in the old Lutheran Church on 11th Ave., married Peter A. Shaw, who died in 1939.
Surviving are four of nine children born to the marriage, Mrs. Potter, with whom she resided, Arden B. of Winchester, Va., Mrs. Beryl M. Black of Jacksonville, Fla., and Loris H. of Baltimore, Md.; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was a charter member of the Temple Eighth Lutheran Church.
Friends will be received at the Gilden-Barton Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.
SHAW--Services for Mrs. Nannie J. Shaw of 1111 21st Ave. will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Temple Eighth Lutheran Church by the Rev. Harold S. Knoll. Interment in the Lutheran Cemetery, Newry. Friends will be received at the Gilden-Barton Funeral Home from 7 p.m. today until noon Friday and thereafter at the church.
