|Birth: ||Jul. 7, 1912|
|Death: ||Oct. 8, 1913|
In October of this year (2013), it will be 100 years and four generations since the 15 month old, first born child of Anna Horbaly and Constantine Bittner was laid to rest on October 10, 1912.
The family was living at 2656 East 40th Street in Cleveland and were members of St. John The Baptist Greek-Catholic Church. The funeral was handled by M. J. Lutheran Funeral Home located on Buckeye Road. The cost of the funeral was very small by today's standards and was payable in cash. There were various charges amounting to $32. The receipt dated October 10, 1913 itemized the charges as casket $12, door wreath $3, one cross $1.50, candles $1, embalming $3, rosary box $1.50, and two coaches $10.
It is not known to the Caretaker what caused Anna's death. It was probably due to pneumonia or the flu. Had she survived, she would have been the oldest of three daughters and one son. Anna and Constantine later left the Greek-Catholic Church and joined St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church which explains why little Anna is interred at Calvary Cemetery and the remainder of her family is buried in St. Theodosius Orthodox Cemetery.
