"R.S. MCDONALD Rites
ROBERT SIDNEY MCDONALD, 74, of Bowie, died at the home of a son in Graham, Friday, May 4, and funeral services were held at the Newport church Sunday afternoon, May 6. Minister ROSS DYE of Bowie was in charge of religious rites. Interment in the Newport cemetery was directed by the Burgess Funeral Home.

Mr. McDonald was a native Texan and spent most of his years in this section. He and his family lived near Newport about 45 years before moving to Bowie five years ago. He farmed in the Hancock community east of Newport until his health began to fail some years ago.

He was born Feb. 13, 1887, and at age of 20, he entered the gospel ministry and continued conducting religious services as long as he was able to deliver a public talk. He preached his first sermon at the Hancock school house and following that, he conducted services there regularly for seven years. He served as pastor of a Bowie Church of Christ a few months some years ago.
