SHELBY-Floyd Lemons, 79, of Shelby, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A loving husband and father, he was a native of Cleveland County. Mr. Lemons was employed by the Dover Textile Group for 50 years. He was a long time member of Dover Baptist Church, former Sunday school teacher and maintenance worker at Dover Church. He served in the U. S. Air Force for four years and spent four years in the reserves.
He was preceded in death by parents Benjamin Elzie Lemons and Sudie Bailey Lemons; sisters Lucille Lemons, and Elizabeth Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Sisk Lemons of the home; daughters Debbie Gibson and husband, Steve of Mauldin SC, Terrie Gibson and husband, David, of Shelby; brothers Larry Lemons of Shelby, Harold Lemons, of Shelby; sisters Joyce Gardner of Shelby, Brenda Wheat of Gaffney, SC; grandchildren Matthew Gibson and wife, Leah, of Shelby, Adam Gibson and fiancé Heather Driessner of Pinehurst, Rebecca Diane Gibson McNair and husband, Ian, of Craddickville, VA, Randy Gibson of Mauldin, SC; great-grandchildren Kessa Gibson, Noah Gibson, Olivia Gibson, Logan Hulan Gibson; he is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
They were a very close family of in-laws who have stood by the family through Mr. Lemons' illness.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Dover Baptist Church, Tuesday, from 1 until 2 p.m.
Funeral Service: Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Dover Baptist Church
