Arnold Coulton "Blackie" Doss was born on May 5, 1922 in the family home in Milam County, Texas. He was one of seven children born to the union of Richard Antonio Doss and Emma Elizabeth Brown Doss.
Arnold was raised in the Gay Hill Community and attended the Gay Hill Community School. Blackie joined the U.S.Navy and served his country during World War II. He was a long time rancher and farmer and worked for a time at Superior Dairies and John Roberts Ring Co. as well as a concrete contractor in Rockdale for a time. He worked for the U. S. Government as a trapper and was stationed at Langtry, Texas. He was a member of the VFW in Rockdale and Karnes City, the Sons of Hermann, Woodman of the World and the Moose Lodge in Austin.
On July 17, 1947 he married Doris Elloie Gifford in Cameron, Texas. To this union, three children were born.
Blackie died Friday, October 14, 2011 at his son's home in Yorktown were he has lived these past 11 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris in August of 1977, his
daughter, Doris Bell Colston in 2008, and his six siblings; Irene Allen, Ola Bell Crump, Emory Doss, Dan Doss, Nolan Doss, and James Doss.
Survivors include son, Ricky Doss and wife Nell of Yorktown, Texas; daughter, Deborah Kaye Gage of Kingsbury; son-in-law Jerry Colston of Rockdale; grandchildren, Carrie Lynn Hefner, Amanda Elloie Daigle, Coulter Moses Gage, David Scott Gage, J. D, Wauer, Cyndi Wauer, Sara Wauer, Robert Allen Doss, Michael Louis Doss, and Michael David Doss; and great grandchildren, Brent Hefner, Cortland Hefner, Nathan Hefner, Brandyn Gage, Coulter Gage, Jarrett Daigle, Kerry Daigle, Kasey Daigle, Gabhan Gage, James Wauer, Brittany Gray, Adam Izatt Gill, Quinten Wauer, Faith Wauer, and Jacob Wauer and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are; Jerry Engler, James Doss, Danny Doss, Michael Doss, Richard Crump, Chad Hefner, Coy Ray Doss, Kirk Daigle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the charity of your choice.
Funeral services were held at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Services were conducted by Rev. Rick Hertless of the Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
