Big Jim was born in Hamilton Texas, to J.W. Sr. Gautier and Addie Agnes Terral. He was very kind. He had one sister, Margaret Lee Gautier. Jim was devoted to education and did well in school. He played football in high school, as well. He married a woman named Julia. His Uncle, Claude Ben Gautier, taught him to be a barber. Claude taught Jim's maternal uncle to style hair as well. This is a trade which Big Jim also taught to his son. Jim was a pilot and had a career in the Navy, as well. He worked in construction of the La Quinta Hotel chain in Texas, Lousiana and Florida. He also worked installing irrigation systems for areas of farmland in Texas. Jim liked to fish and be out in nature. He liked to visit Lake Falcon, on the Texas/Mexico border. More than one time he saved the life of a man who got stranded on the choppy waters.
