|Death: ||Apr. 6, 1878|
For the longest time, I could not figure out who this person was. Chester County kept death records for the years 1852-1855 and 1893-1906, so this person would not appear in them.
I am (so far) related to every Fleck buried at Morris Cemetery. I had no proof of the age of this William, nor of who his family or parents were. I thought he might be a son of one of William Fleck Senior's sons, or possibly even William Fleck Senior's father, but truly, I was stuck...
Until kind contributor Dan Oh wrote in October 2013 with the following:
Daily Local News, West Chester, Chester County, Pa
April 13, 1878
FLECK- In Phoenixville, on Friday, the 6th inst. Willie, infant son of William J., and Eliza J. Fleck, aged 4 months.
The lot where Willie rests was purchased by his grandpa William Fleck Sr. on January 1, 1872, probably for his young daughter Emma who had died in winter and was perhaps held in a vault until ground could be broken. Two other people are listed as buried with her. Richard Jenkins was interred April 26, 1872 and I do not know who he is, though I suspect he may related to William Sr.'s wife, Esther Jenkin.
The other person there is this young William Fleck, buried April 6, 1878.
I hope to visit the cemetery personally to check these graves out. One has to think of William Senior, the patriarch, buying a lot for his daughter, then months later burying his possible father in law or brother in law there, and then seeing his grandson, named after him, going there as well.
