Lynn Dee Smith, 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center due to heart complications.
Lynn was born July 1, 1940, in Idaho Falls to Floyd Merle Smith and Mary Amanda Bailey Smith. He grew up and attended schools in the Ririe area. After his graduation from Ririe High School, he continued his education at Ricks College in Rexburg.
He married Julie Buckland and three children were born to their union. They were later divorced. On October 1, 1988, he married Sondra Getsinger in Idaho Falls.
Lynn worked for Prudential Insurance for 30 years as a health and life insurance agent. He was an active agent with Blue Shield Blue Cross until his death.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Sondra, of Idaho Falls; sons, Jeffrey Lynn (Tammy) Smith, of Louisville, Ky., and Lanny V. Smith, of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Viki Ann Smith, of Idaho Falls; stepdaughter, Carissa Anne (Robert) Neff, of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Kala Leann, Kody Lynn, Krystal, Lila and Elsa; one great-grandson, Raiden Lynn Sarver; brother, Reid F. (Barbara) Smith, of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister, Maureen (David) Thurston, of Rigby, Idaho; brother-in-law, Vernon Cook, of Echo, Ore.; and sister-in-law, Onda Smith, of Ririe, Idaho.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna Cook; brother, Brent B. Smith; and two infant daughters, Lucile Mary Smith and Julie Lynn Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Wood East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services, both visitations at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
