John Farrell’s point of entry into the U.S. was from Quebec into Alburgh, Vermont in June 1837, according to his 1872 naturalization papers. His second wife Ann apparently arrived in 1847; his son James was born in Vermont in 1850; his daughter Eliza was born in Michigan in 1857; and his daughter Sarah was born in New York in 1862. The census entry for his daughter Sarah in 1930 says her father was from, "Northern Ireland," though that is inconsistent with family stories.
John Farrell purchased his farm in Rutherford Township, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin on Feb 19, 1866, from Eurastus Rounds and Gilbert Rounds. The 1880 census shows John Farrell living with his wife Ann and his daughter Sarah in Rushford Township, Winnebago County, Wisconsin in 1880. If his age in the 1880 census was correct, he was born in 1813 (and he would have been about 71 at the time of his death.) He was a farmer when the 1880 census occurred. His grave marker indicates he died on October 28, 1884. His will was executed on the same day.
