Herbert Wallace Le Patourel
Birth: Jun. 20, 1916
Death: Sep. 4, 1979

World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Major in the 2nd Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. At Tebourba Tunisia, on December 3, 1942, enemy forces were holding the high ground and resisting all efforts in dislodge them. Major Le Patourel called for volunteers to go with him and attack several of the machine-gun posts. When all his men became casualties, he went on alone, engaging the enemy using his pistol and hurling hand grenades until all the opposing enemy positions were taken. For this action he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal, promoted Lieutenant Colonel and later achieved the rank of Brigadier General. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
