Boy struck by car dies in hospital

MILVERTON — A young boy was killed Monday after he was struck by a car in front of his home.

Police in Perth County said seven-year-old Steven Kuepfer died in hospital after he was hit at about 5:45 p.m. on Perth Line 72 east of Perth Road 131, north of Milverton.

A privately-hired school bus was dropping off people following a family gathering when the tragedy occurred. As one of the families was being dropped off on the shoulder across the road from their home, one of their children bolted in front of the bus and crossed the road. The little boy was struck by an eastbound car carrying a family from Kitchener.

The boy was rushed to Listowel Memorial Hospital but died a short time later. The road was closed for several hours as police investigated.
