Ernest Isder Estherville Ė Funeral services for Ernest Isder, 77, of Estherville will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville with Linda Blinkman, AIM, officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post #3388 and American Legion Post #91 of Estherville. He died on Feb. 23 at his home in Estherville.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25 at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
He was born on May 7, 1922 in Maple Hill the son of John Sr. and Katie (Kielman) Isder.
He graduated from Maple Hill High School.
He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. After the war he returned home to Emmet County and farmed with his father.
On April 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Bertha E. Doroski in Estherville. In 1958 he began working for Hammond Oil Company. In 1974 he went to work for Artís Way Manufacturing in Armstrong where he worked until his retirement in 1984.
He was a past member of the Dolliver Lutheran Church and presently a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Isder of Estherville; one daughter, Teresa Isder of Estherville; one step-daughter, Jean Nolan and husband Rick of Estherville; two grandchildren; four sisters, Jenny McLoughlin and husband William of Lincoln, Neb., Eunice Voight and husband Kenneth of Fairmont, Minn. and esther Mae Bicknase and husband Rudy of Fairmont; one brother, John Isder, Jr. and his wife Liz of Milford and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one step-son, his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 24, 2000)
