He married Viola Katherine Clemmons and later married Margarete Mashiem.
Jay Gould owned the yacht "Atalanta I" and his children owned the following; Howard Gould the 272-foot yacht "Niagara", George Jay Gould I the 303-foot "Atalanta II", Anna Gould the 245-foot auxiliary bark "Valhalla", and Frank Gould the 185-foot "Helenita".
