John B. Lincecum, a charter member of the Irvington Baptist Mission, died Thursday at a local nursing home. He was 88.
Lincecum was a native of Lincecum, La., and a longtime resident of Irvington. He graduated from Southwest Louisiana Institute in 1943 with a degree in agriculture horticulture. He was employed in the seafood industry as an inspector for the federal Food and Drug Administration. He worked as a supervisor inspector for McPhillips Packing Company in Bayou La Batre from 1948 to 1978. In 1978, he was transferred to Biloxi as a co-manager of Southern Shell Fish Co. where he retired.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Rhodes Lincecum; and two sons, J. Michael Lincecum and Philip G. Lincecum, all of Irvington; two brothers, Gordon A. Lincecum and Clinton B. Lincecum, both of Lincecum, La.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is set for Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where the funeral is set for 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road.
