Birth: Mar. 7, 1907
New Jersey, USA
Death: Nov. 24, 1964
New Jersey, USA

Jewell May Rippel (1907-1964) Ensko, aka Jewell Rippel, aka Mary Ripple. She was a secretary at Colgate Palmolive Company. (b. March 07, 1907, Fort Lee, Bergen County, New Jersey, USA - d. November 24, 1964, New York, USA) Social Security Number 157122971.

She was the daughter of Louis Rippel (c1880-?) and Julia Devine (1883-?).

She had a brother, Peter Francis Rippel (1905-1972).

Fort Lee:
May can be found in the 1910 and 1920 census living in Fort Lee, Bergen County, New Jersey under the name "May Ripple". The 1920 Census didn't get "Ripple" properly interpreted for the index. She died under the name "Jewell Ensko".

She died in 1971 and her funeral notice appeared in the New York Times on November 25, 1964, Wednesday: "Ensko Jewell M. (nee Rippel), on Tuesday, November 24, 1964, beloved wife of Arthur W., sister of Peter F. Rippel of Culver City, Peter Calif. Funeral from the Conway Funeral Home, Northern Blvd. at 82d St. (82d St. Branch), Jackson Heights, on Friday at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Requiem at St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church, 9:45 A.M. Visiting hours from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. daily."

Memories about Jewell Ripple:
Carol Gauger tells the following: "Jewell Rippel's father and my grandmother were brother and sister. She was a beautiful woman, and had an unusually deep and pleasing speaking voice. Her birth name was May, but she changed it to Jewell (her mother's name was Julia). I think she changed it around 1930 or so. She worked as a secretary at Colgate Palmolive Company for many years. She and her brother, Peter, were born in New Jersey. Her parents were [Louis] Ripple and Julia Devine, both born in New York. Her grandparents were Peter Adam Rippel and Wilhelmina Caroline Hess, both born in Germany. They all came to the US in the 1850's. Jewell is buried in the Ensko family plot in Hackensack Cemetery, New Jersey, and the Funeral Home was the Conway Funeral Home in Jackson Heights, New York. Others in the family plot were Charles E. Ensko, Sr., Eloise, Sophie, William A. Ensko and Ethel M. Ensko." Note: The father was Louis Rippel.
