Heart Attack Cause
of Death.

HIGHLY ESTEEMED

Prominent Farmer Just Retired
And Moved To Sycamore Is
Taken By Death Saturday
Interment At Charter Grove.

Ernest John Campbell, a resident
of Sycamore and vicinity all his
life, passed away Saturday night at
10:30 o'clock at his home at 124
North California street. The decedent
suffered a heart attack last
June and was closey confined for
two and a half months. Since then
his health had been somewhat impaired,
and on Thanksgiving Day,
he suffered another attack which
resulted in his untimely death.
Ernest John Campbell, the son of
Jabez and Mary Hoffman Campbell,
was born in Sycamore April 28, 1884.
He received his education in the
Sycamore rural schools and was
united in marriage to Amanda C.
Johnson of this city on July 2, 1910;
Thirty Years On Farm
The first two years of his married
life he resided in town and was
employed as foreman at the Sycamore
Sheep yards, later moving to
the Townsend farm north of Sycamore,
where he was engaged in
farming for 30 years. Due to his
ill health, Mr. Campbell, but a brief
period ago, decided to retire from
active farming and move to town.b
Not more than 20 days previous to
his death, he and his family moved
to Sycamore and occupied the former
Universalist parsonage, which
they had purchased. Their son,
Clifford, remained on the farm.
Mr. Campbell was a very successful
farmer and well liked by everyone
who knew him: He had many
friends both in the rural area
also in town. He was always ready
with a willing hand to help others,

and was called upon times without
number to do so. His wife and
family will greatly miss his kindly
thoughtfulness and devotion to
them. He was an active member of
the Methodist church of this city.
Mr. Campbell leaves to mourn, his
passing, his wife; and five, children,
Frank Campbell of Sycamore; Clifford
Campbell; Los Angeles,. Cal.
Howard Campbell, Sycamore Miss.
Margaret Campbell, Santa, Ana, Cal.
and Miss Barbara Campbell, at
home, also three grandchildren and
two sisters, Mrs. John Kleckler of
Freeport and Mrs. William Graham
of Elgin.
Friends may call at the home on
Tuesday afternoon after 1:30
o'clock. Final rites are to be accorded
from the home Wednesday
afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and from
the Methodist church at 2:30
o'clock, interment will take place
in Charter Grove cemetery. Dr. H.
H. Hough of the Methodist church
will be the officiating clergyman.
