Davis S. Bard was born at Shirleysburg, March 1, 1861, the son of W. H. and Mary Nelson Bard. He was one of a family of twelve children. David was united in marriage to Miss May McAllister, who preceded him in death two years ago.
Mr. Bard was engaged in the manufacture of cigars for many years but finally retired from that business and engaged in the mercantile business, running a general store.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. David was previously a Sunday School superintendent.
David was a member of the election board and also burgess.
Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Fanny Irvin, of Newton Hamilton; Bruce Bard of McVeytown, Harry L. Bard, and Frank D. Bard both of Shirleysburg.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning. After a short prayer at the late home at 10:00 the body was taken to the Methodist Episcopal church of Shirleysburg where the services were held at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. William Kepler officiated and interment took place at the Germany Valley Cemetery directred by W. P. Dunmire, funeral director.
