In 1952 Mr. Altenhein joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for 26+ years on Surface and Sub-Surface boats and as an Aviation Supply Corp Officer. He earned Masters Degrees in Human Resourses Management and Business Administration. Upon his retirement from the Navy, Mr Altenhein continued his career as a Logistics Specialist for several national companies.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Frederick N. Altenhein.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Marcia Altenhein, daughter, Susan Michelle Altenhein and her life partner, Patricia Anne Hughes, and grandson, Japhy Alexander Altenhein.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
