Kenneth C. Blad, 66, of Altoona, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2003, in Washburn County.
He was born in Duluth, Minn., to Carl and Louise (Hedberg) Blad on November 12, 1936. He attended Duluth area schools and graduated from McAllister College in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1963. Ken was a tech. sergeant during the Korean War from 1955 to 1959. He was active in the Lions Club and was a past president and vice president in New Jersey.
Ken lived in California for 20 years and worked at Equitable Life Insurance Company. There, he met Avis Dohms and married her in 1990. They moved back to Eau Claire in 1998.
Ken is survived by his son, Brian (Diane) Blad of Mesa, Ariz.; his daughter, Sharon (Rodney) Zubrod of Farmington, N.M.; grandson, Matthew Zubrod of Farmington, N.M.; one brother, Robert Blad of Chanhassen, Minn.; their precious family of three dogs, Gopher, Rascal, and Rusty, who will be rejoining them in the hereafter.
His parents precede Ken in death.
Memorial services will be on Thursday, August 28, 2003, at 7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel with Reverend Howard Fehr officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., before the service.
