Actor. Egan his best remembered for his roles on television in, "Joe Forrester" as 'Sergeant Bernie West' from 1975 to 1976, "Eischied" as 'Inspector Ed Parks' from 1979 to 1980, and "Mike Hammer" as 'Hennessey' from 1984 to 1985. A native of New York, New York, Egan was born on January 3, 1930. In 1962 while serving as a tough New York police officer with the New York Police Department (NYPD), Egan along with his partner, Sonny Grosso managed to bust a 112-pound heroin ring. The heroin bust was one of the biggest in New York's history, and the story was made into the 1971 Academy Award-winning film, "The French Connection," starring Gene Hackman as 'Popeye Doyle.' In 1984 Egan retired to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and later turned to acting, and appeared in several films and on television. His former partner, Sonny Grosso worked on the television series, "Top Cops." Egan appeared in films such as, Cold Steel" (1987), "Houston Knights" (1987), "Out Of The Darkness" (1985), "Murder Me, Murder You" (1983), "Crazy Times" (1981), "Police Story: Confessions Of A Lady Cop" (1985), "To Kill A Cop" (1978), "Cop On The Beat" (1975), "Badge 373" (1973), "Night Of Terror" (1972), "Prime Cut" (1972), and "The French Connection" (1971), playing 'Walt Simonson.' He also appeared on television in, 'Houston Knights,' ' T.J. Hooker,' 'Police Story,' 'McCloud,' and 'Mannix.' In 1986 he worked on the film, "Popeye Doyle" starring Ed 'O'Neill, as a technical advisor, another film based on his police days. (bio by: K)
