|Birth: ||Sep. 15, 1840|
|Death: ||Mar. 14, 1910|
Catherine was born in about September 1840. She died March 14, 1910 in Stanfold Township, Rice Lake, Wisconsin, aged 69 years and 6 months and was buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
It is believed that Catherine was born Catherine McGroty in Bangor, Maine around 1838 or 1840. She married John O'Donnell in 1867. John had served in the Union Navy during the Civil War aboard the USS North Carolina, USS Wabash, and USS Princeton.
In 1869 Catherine (Kate) and John were living in Amesbury, Essex, Massachusetts where John worked in a Woolen Mill. It was there that their two oldest children, John and Mary, were born.
By 1880 Catherine and John were living in Minneapolis, Minnesota with their children: John, Mary, Catherine, Joseph, and Susan.
Then by 1885, Catherine and John moved their family to a 160-acre farm in the Campia/Stanfold/Rice Lake, Wisconsin area. In 1900 a forest fire in the Rice Lake area destroyed the majority of the farmhouse and buildings leaving the family with only the clothes on their backs.
When Catherine passed away in 1910, John passed the farm to his son Joseph. He then lived with his daughters, Mary and Susan, until his death in May of 1918.
Catherine will always be remembered for her enduring spirit, strong sense of family, and devotion to her God and to her faith.
