General Alexander I. Rodimzev was born in Scharlyk (Orenburg). 1936/37 he fought in the Spanish Civil War. 1939 he studied at the Frunse Military Academy. World WarII: 1940 he fought in the winter war against Finland. In the battle of Kiew he was commander of a brigade. 1941 he was a member of the staff of generals in the battle of Stalingrad (together with General Chuikov and General Krylov). 1943 he fought in the Battle of Kursk. He was honoured 2 times as a Hero of the Soviet Union, decorated 3 times with the Lenin Medal and 4 times with the Red Banner Medal. After the war he was commander of divers military districts. For a few years he lived as military attaché in Albania. He died in Moscow.
