Helen Darlene Howard, 51, died at her home June 26, 1982 from cancer. She is the wife of Allen E. Howard, prominent New Sweden farmer.
Helen was born December 20, 1930 at Shelley, the daughter of Wilford Britton Staples and Maggie Josephine Smith Staples. She attended Goshen Elementary School and Firth High School. She lived in the Firth-Goshen area for 20 years and in St. Anthony for one year, Downey, one year, and in the Salt Lake, Orem, and Ogden areas for another year. She had lived in Idaho Falls for the past 27 years.
Helen married Allen Everett Howard, August 23, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple.
She had been a bookkeeper, wife and mother. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She had also done volunteer hospital work.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters and four sons: Mrs. Terrill (Kathryn) A. Christiansen of Shelley; Mrs. Blaine (Susan Michelle) Smith of West Valley City, Utah; Michael A., Kent B., Brent K., of Idaho Falls, and Terry R. of Boise. She is preceded in death by one son, Vaughan G. Howard.
There are nine grandchildren, and one sister and two brothers: Mrs. Elmo (Nila) R. Dial of Rigby, Darrell B. Staples and Merlin L. Staples of Idaho Falls.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the LDS West Stake Center, with Bishop Clyde B. Charles officiating. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery at Ririe.
