VETERAN - Civil War

Death came last night at 9:30 o'clock to Henry A Burns, at his home, on South Fourth Street, after a lingering illness of consumption. The deceased was a veteran of the late civil war, and was 55 years old. He came here to enter the Soldiers' home, and it was while here that he was married a second time. A wife and four children, by his first wife, residing at Shelbyville, are left to mourn his loss. He was a man of excellent character, and during his stay in this city he has won many friends, who will regret to hear of his death. The funeral will be conducted from the assembly hall at the soldiers' home, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock Dr C B Wilcox will officiate and the iterment will be in the home cmetery.(Lafayette, Indiana Newspaper, Friday, January 27, 1899)
