DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Marguerite J. (Audette) (Hinds) Pierson, (affectionately known as Mema), born in Burlington, Vt. on Jan. 2, 1921, daughter of Joseph and Blanche Audette, passed into God's loving arms on Oct. 5, 2011.
Marguerite was an accomplished flute and piccolo player. She played all four years in the Burlington High School band and the Burlington Symphony Orchestra. She was also a certified court recorder.
Don and Marguerite were married in Burlington on Feb. 1, 1941. When Don entered the Army during W.W.II, she and the girls lived with her folks in Burlington. After the war Don remained in the Army and she and girls traveled with him to Washington, Utah, Hawaii and New York. They settled in Burlington after 10 years of Army life. She was a loving mother and wife and was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for the C.H. Goss Co. in Burlington. She and Don were accomplished Bridge players, playing in tournaments around the country. They moved to Daytona Beach, Fla. in 1976, where Don passed away shortly thereafter. She later began to attend the local senior dances at City Island where she met and fell in love with Walter Pierson; they married in 1980. They loved walking the beach, round and square dancing at the local clubs and other out of state venues. She loved to dance and had many beautiful handmade dancing outfits. After Walt's death, she went back to dancing, something she always loved and made many friends. Two of her special friends were Jim Hunt, now deceased, and Dr. Hosezell Blash.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Donald Hinds; her second husband, Walter Pierson; three brothers; Rene, Jean, Jerry; and one sister, Marie Audette.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia and husband, Felix Cavallari, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Dorothy and her husband, Richard Mazza, of Colchester, Vt.; a stepson, Walter Pierson of California; her brother, Arthur Audette and his wife, Theresa, of South Burlington, Vt.; her sisters, Gabrielle and her husband, Tom Blow, Yvonne and her husband, Donald Campbell, Theresa and her husband, Richard Campbell, and Blanche Bradley, all of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grand- children; 11 great-grand- children; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, Port Orange, Fla., with a reception following to celebrate her life. There will be no visiting hours.
