Richard L. Gowen, age 68, died Monday in
his home at Medway.
He was the husband of Helen E. (Gallagher) Gowen.
He had been a resident of Medway for the
past 25 years, previously living at Brookline.
He was employed for 45 years in the maintenance department with the Brookline Public School department until his retirement in 1987.
He served with the U. S. Army in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. By direction of the President of the United States he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for 'exemplary conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy on or about December 24, 1944 in the European Theater of Operations'.
The American Flag was presented to Helen Gowen in recognition of her husband's service.
He was a member of the Medway VFW post #1526.
Interment in Walnut Hills Cemetery.
