US Congressman. Served in the United States Army during the War of 1812. Elected to represent Pennsylvania's 4th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1827 to 1829. Also served as a Member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives from 1815 to 1818, 1823 to 1825, and 1829 to 1835, and Speaker of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in 1833.
