Thomas George Poholsky
Birth: Aug. 26, 1929
Death: Jan. 6, 2001

Major League Baseball Player. He was the International League MVP of 1950 after posting an 18-6 record with 21 complete games. One of them was a 22-inning marathon in which he did not give up a run after the second inning, leading Rochester to a 3-2 victory over Jersey City. Pitching for some dreadfull St, Louis Cardinals teams, he went 7-13 for St. Louis in 1951. After service in the Army during the Korean conflict, he returned to the Majors in 1954 and pitched for the Cards for 3 more years. He was traded by St. Louis along with Jackie Collum, Ray Katt and Wally Lammers to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Hobie Landrith, Jim Davis, Toothpick Sam Jones and Eddie Miksis on December 11, 1956. 1957 would prove to be his last year in the Majors. After going 1-7 in 1957 he was traded by the Cubs to San Francisco in exchange for Freddy Rodriguez on December 10, 1957, but never appeared in a game for San Francisco. Over a 6 year career, he accrued a lifetime won-loss record of 31-52 with a 3.93 era in 159 league games. (bio by: Frank Russo)
