Mrs. Sylvia Cory, 82, of Clark's Hill, a patient in Logansport State Hospital, died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday. She had been ill seven years. A native of Colfax, she first had married Samuel Ghere; and later she married Alva Cory, who died in 1937. She is survived by four sons, Glenn Ghere, Rapid City, South Dakota, Lawrence A. Ghere, Lafayette, Charles C. Ghere, Lafayette, and Herbert G. Cory, New Orleans, La; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Alda Parvis, Apalachicola, Florida; three brothers, Adam Loveless, Darlington, Clifford Loveless, Thorntown, and Joseph Loveless, Alexandria; and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Robinson, Clark's Hill. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Sylvia married Samuel Jesse Ghere 12 Nov 1898 in Clinton County, Indiana. They divorced about 1909. She married Alva Miletus Cory in 1911. She was preceded in death by a fifth son, Norman Wendell Ghere, who died in 1957 in Chehalis, Washington. Her grandchildren were Norma Bearden of Lafayette, David Ghere of Wisconsin, Daniel, Debra and Sandra Ghere, all of Chehalis, Washington, Sylvia Conrad, Warner and Carol Ann Ghere of Rapid City, South Dakota, James Ghere of Lafayette, Drenda Howard of Lafayette and Evelyn Ghere of South Dakota.
