Loyd Neil Barker, 88, passed away on September 24 at his home. Loyd was born on November 19, 1922, in Hobble Creek Canyon to Hyrum and Minnie Barker. Loyd proudly served his country during World War II in the US Air Force. Loyd was a precise craftsman winning many awards including the Governor's Craftsman of the Year in 1978. He loved the outdoors. His many hobbies included woodworking, fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends. He had a strong faith in the LDS Church serving in many callings and living his faith. He was a great example. Loyd is survived by his loving wife, Martha, of almost 70 years and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He is also survived by children Calvin (Pat) of Springville, Gloria Strasburg (Paul) of Springville, and Anita Sorenson (Eric) of Midvale, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren; siblings Dean (Blanche) of Hobble Creek Canyon, Norman (Nortica) of Mapleton, and Marie West (Vince) of Springville. He was preceded in death by children Carol, Larene, and Robert, brothers Glenand Wayne, son-in-law Paul Strasburg, and grandson Kenny Strasburg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the LDS Fourth Ward, 355 East Center, Springville. A viewing will be held the evening before at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the services at the LDS Fourth Ward. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
