Rites Slated For Former Representative
Funeral services for Clifford W. Drake, former representative of Sabine Parish for 12 years, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Osborn Chapel.
Drake, who died of injuries received in a fire in Houston, Texas at 6 p.m. Friday, served as Sabine Parish representative from 1928 until 1940. At the time of his death, he was working as a Pullman conductor.
Burial for Drake will be held in the Centuries Memorial Park, with American Legion services slated. Services will be conducted in the Osborn Chapel here. The body arrived in Shreveport Saturday afternoon and was taken to the chapel, where it will remain until the hour for services.
Drake is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Drake of Zwolle; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Ferguson, of Shreveport; two daughters, Mrs. John Redditt of St. Joseph, La., and Mrs. N. O. Napier of Zwolle; one son, C. W. Drake, Jr., who is chief supervisor of the Industrial school for negroes in Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Fletcher, employee of the Charity Hospital here, Mrs. R. Blackwell of Shreveport, and Mrs. Roy Hall, of Mitchell.
