"Funeral services for Bertha Mae Bullock, 98, were held Friday, 8 Oct 1999, at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Douglas with Rev. Rodney Saunders officiating. Inurnment was at the Wheatland Cemetery. Mrs. Bullock died Tuesday, 28 Sep 1999, at her home in Douglas.
Bertha was born 2 May 1901, in Ohiowa, Neb., the daughter of Warren F. and Eva (Holland) Medlar. She moved with her family to Mason City, Neb. in 1903, where she received her early education; and moved to Kimball, Neb., in 1918 where she graduated from high school. She married Paul Wilmer Bullock on 3 Jul 1921 at Kimball. To this union was born four children.
They resided in Kimball until 1931 when they moved to Scottsbluff, then to Torrington in 1934, to Wheatland in 1949, where they owned and operated Bullock's Floral Shop; and back to Torrington in 1976. Bertha moved to Douglas in 1987, where she resided at Irwin Towers until the time of her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Federated Woman's Club, Past Matrons and P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Dee Haskins and her husband, Ray of Douglas; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Donald Paul Bullock and Richard Jay Bullock; one daughter, Phyllis Mae Marks; five sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren."
