Above dates and places are published in "Genealogy of the Smedley Family", by Wickersham Printing Company, Lancaster, PA; 1901, pg 545. The Smedley book, which chronicles Quaker families in USA starting in late 1600s, records that George is buried at Lampeter Meeting in Lancaster Co, PA. (George's inputs were likely provided to publisher by his son John Atlee Rakestraw.)
George is the son of multi-generational American Quakers: Joseph Rakestraw and Rebecca (Gilbert) Rakestraw. His mother Rebecca Gilbert and her parents and siblings were kidnapped by an Indian raiding party, under the auspices of the British army, during the Revolutionary War. An accounting of this hostility is recorded in "A Narrative of the Captivity and Sufferings of Benjamin Gilbert and His Family: Who Were Taken by the Indians in the Spring of 1780", by William Walton (who is Rebecca's cousin); published by John Richards of Philadelphia, PA.
George married Mary Ann Downing (circa 1825) and had 4 children: Elam, b. 16 Jan 1826; George Gilbert, b. 25 Nov 1827; Anna Downing, b. 30 Jan 1830; and John Atlee, b. 19 Jul 1833. His widow Mary died 18 Oct 1865 in Columbia, Lancaster Co, PA.
